2017 JUA Fall Umpire Clinic

In preparation for the fall season, the association will conduct a clinic at San Jose Athletic Association ( Baker Skinner Park). The clinic will prioritize getting new members comfortable on the field and seeing the game from an umpire's perspective. With an emphasis on plate work and one-man mechanics, it will serve as an introduction to the craft of umpiring by covering its basic fundamentals and building blocks.

All first and second year members are required to attend. In addition, an invitation is open to all JUA members who would like to refresh and improve their umpiring skills.

Revised Schedule due to hurricane Irma:

Thursday Sept 21st 6 - 8pm Baker Skinner Park-- Game Management (1st and 2nd year umpires veterans optional)

Sunday Sept 24th 1:30- 3:30 pm Field Training at Skinner Baker-- Field Mechanics
(Jaguars play at 9:30am at London) (1st and 2nd year umpires veterans optional)

Thursday Sept 28th 6 - 8pm Skinner Baker-- Game Management (1st and 2nd year umpires veterans optional)

Saturday Sept 30th 8am - 11am Field Training at Skinner Baker Field--Expectations/Mechanics (ALL Umpires)

Thursday Oct 5th 6 - 8pm Skinner Baker-- Review (1st and 2nd year umpires veterans optional)

The umpire Clinic will emphasize and offer training on field mechanics, plate mechanics as well as base mechanics. The Clinic will also offer ways to better understand the baseball and softball rules of the leagues we officiate which in turn will effectively benefit you in future game situations.

All first and second year umpires are required to attend.
I also would like to extend an invitation to all JUA members who would like to improve their umpiring skills to join us.

What to bring:
